Panelist Bios

 

Kimberly Halpin (BUSN ’14)

Kim Halpin is a Sr. Market Research Analyst in Competitive and Market Intelligence for Prudential Retirement, where she began her career as an intern in while still an UConn student. In her current role she supports the Pension Risk Transfer and Structured Settlements businesses with projects including primary marketing research, sales prospecting and senior leadership strategy. Kim graduated summa cum laude as an Honors Scholar from the University of Connecticut School of Business with a degree in marketing, and magna cum laude from UConn’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a degree in English. She was inducted into UConn’s School of Business Hall of Fame as a student inductee.

Kim is pursuing her Masters of Business Administration at UConn’s School of Business in Hartford. She is also actively involved with Toastmasters International and serves as the Communications Coordinator for Prudential Retirement’s Community Engagement Council.

 

Vanessa Kafka (BUSN ’06)

Vanessa is currently Director of Product at KAYAK in Massachusetts. Vanessa graduated as an Honors Scholar with a degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Connecticut School of Business in 2006.

Since graduating, Vanessa has worked in various roles for companies such as EY, Adobe Systems and Wayfair. Vanessa received her MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Sloan School of Management in 2012.

 

Nicole Lindsay (BUSN ’96)

Nicole Lindsay currently serves as the Director of Leadership Development at The ZOOM Foundation; in March 2016, Nicole will become the Deputy Director of the Foundation. Nicole is the author of The MBA Slingshot for Women: Using Business School to Catapult Your Career (Praeger), awarded Honorable Mention by the 2014 San Francisco Book Festival. She earned her BS from the University of Connecticut and JD/ MBA from the University of Virginia, and has held various senior roles in business, non-profit and academia.
She serves on the UVA Darden School Board of Trustees and is a member of the Fairfield County (CT) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated. Nicole is the recipient of the 2011 University of Connecticut Honors Program Distinguished Alumna Award. She is licensed to practice law in Connecticut and Georgia.

Robert Poulin (BUSN ’81)

Bob Poulin has more than thirty years experience as an entrepreneur and C-Level executive in digital marketing, technology and real estate development. He is currently President of Havas Helia, the data and analytics arm of Havas Worldwide, the fifth largest integrated communications company in the world. 

He was previously CEO of agencyQ, Inc., a Washington, DC-based, digital communications agency, Chief Operating Officer of evox, a technology security company in Virginia and Chief Global Officer at AKQA, one of the world’s largest digital creative agencies.  He has founded, run and sold several technology companies including Explore, Inc. Kidscare Software and Corporate Kids.

Bob received a B.S. in Accounting from UConn in 1981 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1985. He is active on several Board of Directors including the Harvard Business School Club of Washington, D.C.

 

Andrew Tan (ENGR ’10, BUS ’11)

Andrew Tan received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UConn in 2010 and a B.S. in Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship in 2011.

Tan started working at Eversource Energy (formerly Northeast Utilities) in 2007 as a student intern in Reliability Compliance and started working full-time in 2011 in Protection & Controls Engineering. He worked in several departments in technical roles both in the office environment and in the field, and currently works in the Transmission Project Development group, where he works with an elite team to identify new project opportunities where he is able to apply both his Engineering and Business knowledge.

Outside of Eversource, Tan is the Executive Vice President of Regulatory Compliance at the TAN2000 International Regulatory Corporation (TANRC), a self-regulatory organization aimed at using the power of community to regulate the early startup environment in order to build trust amongst entrepreneurs, service providers, and investors. Tan also served as the National Alumni President of Pi Delta Psi fraternity from 2013-2015.
