Tuesday 2/3, 7:00-8:00pm – Informational Session

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: Learn about the organization and the events planned for the semester. The guest speaker will be Eleanor Daugherty, Dean of Students. Attire is casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 2/10, 7:00-8:00pm – UConn Business in London Presentation by Dr. Robert Bird

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: Are you interested in learning about a summer study abroad experience in London? Professor Robert Bird will be discussing the summer program, its new Honors component, application process, and will answer any questions you may have.A School of Business Academic Advisor will also be present to answer any curriculum related questions students may have. Wednesday 2/18, 6:00-7:00pm – Connecticut Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CCEI)

Location: School of Business Dean’s Boardroom (BUSN 321)

Description: Michelle Cote, Managing Director of CCEI will give a presentation about the Innovation Accelerator (IA) and the application process. The Innovation Accelerator is a semester-long, credit bearing engagement and can be used toward the Honors thesis.

The IA assists entrepreneurial ventures in addressing complex challenges associated with the identification and capture of business opportunities through the efforts of interdisciplinary student project teams guided by UConn faculty mentors. The teams help propel client ventures closer to market by engaging in value-added consulting projects that help early-stage ventures grow. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 2/24, 7:00-8:00pm– Connecticut Insurance Financial Services (IFS) Cluster

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: Susan Winkler, Executive Director of Connecticut Insurance Financial Services (IFS) Cluster and other executives will give a presentation about IFS.  The IFS Cluster is a disciplined system of corporate, education and government collaboration that fosters growth among all of the industry’s sectors. Some IFS sponsors are KPMG, Aetna, Bank of America, PwC and The Hartford. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 3/3, 4:00-7:00pm – Honors T-Shirt Sales

Location: Wilson 112 A

Description:Honors in Business Association will be selling honors t-shirts. Proceeds from the sale support HiBA and Honors Across State Borders.

 

Tuesday 3/10, 7:00-8:00pm – Networking 101

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: A representative from the Career Center will give a presentation about networking. This networking session will be in preparation for the trip to Boston on March 27th. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 3/24, 7:00-8:00pm – Honors in Business Association Elections

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: Honors in Business Association will be holding elections for the 2015-2016 academic year. Applications for office positions will be available in mid-February. Attire is casual. Food will be provided.

 

Friday 3/27, 9:00am-7:00pm – Trip to Boston

Location: Federal Reserve Bank and PwC

Description: Honors in Business Association will be visiting the Federal Reserve Bank and PwC. This will give students the opportunity to learn about the accounting, economic and government industries as well as internship and full time opportunities. Following the visits to the Federal Reserve Bank and PwC, students will attend the Honors Program 50th Anniversary Celebration with alumni in the Greater Boston Area.  During the trip members will be able to bond and get to know each other. Attire is business professional.

 

Sunday 3/29, 6:00-7:00pm – Accenture

Location: Information Technologies Engineering (ITE 119)

Description:  Accenture is a Fortune 500 multinational management consulting and technology company. Recent UConn Honors Alum Matthew Baier (ENGR ’14) will be giving a presentation about Accenture and opportunities there. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 3/31, 6:30pm-7:30pm – Human Rights and Business Lecture by Professor David Scheffer

Location: Konover Auditorium, Dodd Center

Description: As part of a Business and Human Rights Lecture Series, Honors in Business Association and NetImpact will be hosting Professor David Scheffer, Director for the Center of International Human Rights at Northwestern University. In addition to Human Rights Law, Professor Scheffer’s area of expertise is corporate social responsibility. Prior to the lecture, some members of the organization will have the opportunity to eat dinner with Professor Scheffer and UConn faculty. This lecture is sponsored by the Human Rights Institute and Professor Robert Bird, Northeast Utilities Chair in Business Ethics.

 

Tuesday 4/7, 7:00-8:00pm –The Hartford

Location: School of Business Room 122 (BUSN 122)

Description: A representative from the Hartford will give a presentation about liability in sports. The presenter will focus on casualty and claims insurance issues related to fans/spectators of sporting games. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 4/14, 5:00-6:00pm – American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE)

Location: School of Business Room 214 (BUSN 214)

Description: HiBA will be joining UConn Healthcare Management Society for an ACHE Info Session. Gary Havicon, VP of Operations at Middlesex Hospital will be presenting.

 

Tuesday 4/21, 7:00-8:00pm – Anne Diamond, CEO John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Health Center

Location: Laurel Hall 201

Description: Honors in Business Association and Leadership in Action will be co-hosting Anne Diamond, CEO of John Dempsey Hospital, UConn Health Center for a lecture. There will be an opportunity to attend a small dinner before the lecture.
