Friday 1/8- Friday 1/22 – Berg Cup Case Study Competition

Location: University of Pittsburgh

Description:  Four members of Honors in Business Association will participate in the Berg Cup Case Competition sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh. More information about the competition can be found here.

 

Tuesday 2/2, 7:00-8:00pm– Spring Welcome Event

Location: BUSN 226

Description: HiBA’s first meeting of the semester. Come learn about all the great events planned for the semester and get know other students in the organization!

 

Tuesday 2/9, 6:30-7:30pm – UStocktrade

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: We will be hosting Tony Weeresinhe. Tony Weeresinghe is the founding CEO and Chairman of Ustocktrade LLC. Prior to founding Ustocktrade LLC in 2014, Weeresinghe served as Director- Global Development, Chief Executive Officer of MillenniumIT of London Stock Exchange Group Plc. Ustocktrade LLC was founded with the mission to advance a two-pronged social vision: first, by partnering with regulated trading and finance entities Ustocktrade introduces the rewards of investing and personal finance management to a new audience of “micro-investors”. And second, to use the profits from the company to fund a unique philanthropic venture, the Cainan Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, which seeks to educate underserved children throughout the world. Attire is casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 2/16, 2:00-3:00pm – Exploring Business Theses

Location: School of Business Dean’s Boardroom (BUSN 321)

Description:  All business majors who plan to work on a thesis project are encouraged to attend. This is an opportunity to meet with Honors advisors from every major within the School of Business and get questions answered about the thesis process and options for theses. Attire is casual. Tuesday 2/16, 7:00-8:00pm – CIGNA

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: CIGNA will be coming to speak the company and their Operations Leadership Development Program. Applications are due February 22nd and are available on Husky Career Link. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 2/23, 7:00-8:00pm– Steven Daugherty, Anheuser Busch

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: Steven Daugherty, an executive at Anheuser Busch will present.  Steven Daugherty will be speaking on the topics of supply chain and globalization of business. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 3/1, 7:00-8:00pm – Mark Cutler, SCORE

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: Mark Cutler is Chairman of SCORE’s Greater Hartford Chapter. SCORE’s Greater Hartford chapter, a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth and success of small businesses nationwide. Mark manages an organization consisting of more than 60 diverse and experienced entrepreneurs who volunteer their time and are passionate about assisting small businesses.

In addition, Mark supports CDC Development Solutions, a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization based in Washington DC providing innovative and market-driven solutions that empower individuals, businesses, and governments in emerging markets. Mark is on the Board of Directors of SMS Audio (http://smsby50.com)   where he is head of the audit committee. The musician 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) is the majority owner and CEO. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the non-profit, Diverse Supplier Development Academy. DSDA is committed to the support of high potential diverse businesses in New England. Tuesday 3/22, 7:00-8:00pm – Honors in Business Association Elections

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: Honors in Business Association will be holding elections for the position of Chief Administrative Officer for the 2016-2017 academic year. Applications for office positions will be available by the end of February. Attire is casual. Food will be provided.

 

Tuesday 3/29, 7:00-8:00pm – Alumni Career Panel

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description:  Honors in Business Association will be hosting alumni who work in multiple areas of business. Following the panel there will be an opportunity to network with the panelists. Panelist bios can be viewed here. Attire is business casual. Food will be provided

 

Friday 4/1, All Day – Trip to New York City

Location: New York Stock Exchange

Description: Honors in Business Association will be visiting the New York Stock Exchange. This will give students the opportunity to learn about the financial services industries as well as layout of the New York Stock Exchange. Attire is business casual. Information to sign up will be sent via email.

 

Tuesday 4/5, 7:00-8:00pm – Leadership Programs Office

Location: School of Business Room 226 (BUSN 226)

Description: The Leadership Programs office will be facilitating a workshop on personal strengths. Participants will complete the Gallup StrengthsFinder Instrument that will provide insight into their top 5 strengths, explore their personal talents, and how investments of time and knowledge into talents can create strengths.
